Head of Infrastructure Business Sector

To build on and continue their growth in the railway infrastructure market, they have a requirement for a Head of Infrastructure. Reporting to the COO, your primary mission will be to lead the Infrastructure Business Sector as a successful division of the company, grow its market presence, client base, order book and services portfolio.

This role will also be responsible for leading the Infrastructure Assurance and Consultancy service areas as a successful business service: overseeing delivery of the business plan, growing its market presence, client base, order book and services portfolio. You will provide technical expertise in Infrastructure Assurance and Consultancy projects and will oversee the wellbeing of all members of the Infrastructure team, including line management responsibility the engineers.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Delivery of the Sector’s Business Plan in terms of sales/revenue.
  • Business development, with the assistance of the marketing/business development function and Service Leads, to achieve the planned growth of the Sector.
  • Creation and ownership of the Infrastructure Assurance and Consultancy Business Plan.
  • Leadership and development of the Infrastructure Assurance and Consultancy team.

Essential Skills and Knowledge:

  • Substantial technical experience of one or more infrastructure engineering specialisms and of working in an engineering consulting environment.
  • Proven success in client relationships, project management and business management.
  • A wide appreciation of all railway infrastructure disciplines and competencies.
  • Ability to devise, develop and implement efficient an effective Business Plans.
  • Proven experience of effective performance management.
  • A leader able to bring the best out of those working in the Sector.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure and to deadlines, using a logical and methodical approach.
  • Able to provide leadership in client relationships on behalf of team members.
  • Aptitude in presenting the skills and advantages of the organisation to prospective clients.
  • A visible profile and a well-known reputation within the wider rail industry and community.

Business Development Executive

The Company
Our Client is a fast moving and successful consultancy business. They help companies to secure funding for technology innovation. Their team of consultants have considerable experience and their consultancy services are in great demand.

The Role
With a strong brand, no lead is a ‘cold’ lead. You will be working closely with their marketing team, following up on campaigns to generate appointments for our Business Development team to bring to fruition.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate a proven track record of creating new business opportunities and generating appointments with senior decision makers.

Key Responsibilities:
This is an office-based role within a forward thinking and rapidly expanding team and the main tasks and duties of the role will be:

  • Researching and identifying appropriate new business opportunities
  • Cold calling and generating meetings with agreed targets
  • Updating the CRM system with all activities and monitoring the sales pipeline
  • Providing support to the Business Development Manager for both new business approaches and the account management of existing clients
  • Liaising with the Marketing department for marketing campaigns

Requirements:

  • You will have at least 2 years’ B2B experience in a business development, sales support or senior telesales role
  • Excellent communication skills that can be used effectively at all levels
  • A track record of achieving targets

Senior OLE Design and Project Engineer

The Role

Supporting Principal Engineer in managing the OLE design services, the Senior OLE Design and Project Engineer will lead a small, close knit, multi-disciplinary project team based in their Derby office. Working in conjunction with project managers, interfacing with other railway disciplines you will be delivering projects to the highest standards.  In addition to your general technical knowledge and particularly your expertise in OLE design and engineering, you should be able to deliver projects to on time and to the highest specification.

The Person

You will be a qualified engineer with at least 5 years’ experience of being part of an integrated rail engineering team. You will have experience of managing and developing a team and be able to quickly adapt to changeable situations.  As a senior representative of the company, you will have good communication skills, a passion for details and an ability to build productive client relationships.

 Senior OLE Design and Project Engineer will be able to:

  • Lead project engineering activities in conjunction with project managers
  • Undertake, direct and review design work and design changes
  • Co-ordinate and produce project engineering deliverables
  • Manage and develop a team of CAD engineers and design engineers
  • Assist in managing our IT systems for design activities
  • Perform administrative functions such as writing and reviewing reports, creating systems and implementing procedural changes

As you develop in the role, you will be supporting the Principal Engineer and Project Managers in the preparation of bids, contracts and budgets and will represent the company in client meetings and discussions, capturing client’s requirements and translating these into project activities.

Essential Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Degree level engineering qualification as a minimum
  • Good knowledge of various aspects of OLE systems and general technical knowledge (electrical, structural and civil)
  • Understanding of whole life cost implications, ability to give recommendation and make judgement calls
  • Understanding of Standards, Codes and policies applicable to rail electrification in the UK
  • Understanding of testing, installation and maintenance requirements
  • An appreciation of UK risk assessment methodologies and a knowledge of CDM
